I read a lot. And I still don't read as much as I should, or as much as I used to. This online thing sucks a lot of time right into the old chronosynclastic infundibulum, never to be seen again. But I try.Here's a bunch of stuff that I think you might like -- favorite authors, favorite books, recent stuff I've liked, and more. It's a bit of a wild batch of stuff, so please do give it a look. I'll bet you'll find some stuff you'll like here.
I'm starting to accumulate the book list slowly, as coding all this takes a bit of time. Don't tell me it's tiny now. I know. There'll always be more added, so check back frequently!

Harlan Ellison
Ellison is quite probably my favorite writer, although you know me ... it's hard for me to pick one favorite anything. But more so than any writer, Ellison moves me. He wrenches my emotions, he scares me, he makes me cry, he makes me laugh, he pisses me off. He does everything to me that a truly great writer should. Lots of his stuff is out of print, but it looks like the excellent Edgeworks series is beginning to republish everything, gradually. Go for those, and go for whatever you can from this truly amazing writer.

- Ellison, Harlan. Slippage: Previously Uncollected, Precariously Poised Stories
- Ellison's latest collection of short stories and essays, brilliant as ever. One of these gave me nightmares for two days. Read it!
- Frazier, Charles. Cold Mountain
- Proulx, E. Annie. Accordion Crimes
- A sweeping, panoramic novel about immigrants in America, told through the medium of an accordion, brought in by a Sicilian immigrant in 1890, and the many people who subsequently owned it for the next 100 years. If you're a book collector, go for the hardback edition, or if you like listening, try the audiocassette version.
