LIL' QUEENIE AND THE PERCOLATORS - My Darlin' New Orleans [45 single/Great
     Southern Records]
THE BIG GERANIUMS - Home Again [TALL TALES ... AND SHORT STORIES/Polydor
Ireland] Exuberant country-folk band, resident in Donegal. Co-
     produced by Donal Lunny.
R.E.M. - Nightswimming [AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE/Warner] A beautiful song.
COWBOY MOUTH - Son of an Engineer [WORD OF MOUTH/Domino] From New Orleans'

By special request, from a woman in the hospital.

JO-EL SONNIER - Church Point Breakdown [CAJUN ROOTS/Rounder] Fine Cajun
comeback for Jo-El, who moved back to Louisiana from Nashville, and who
I hope gives up that lame mainstream-country stuff. Produced by
     Michael Doucet dit Beausoleil.
THE CARRIERE BROTHERS - Blues a Bebe [CAJUN FIDDLE STYLES, VOLUME 1: THE
CREOLE TRADITION -- CANRAY FONTENOT & THE CARRIERE BROTHERS/Arhoolie]
Great, scratchy, pre-zydeco Creole blues, by fiddler Bebe Carriere and
his brother Eraste on accordion. Priceless.
BEAUSOLEIL - Blues a Bebe [BAYOU DELUXE: THE BEST OF BEAUSOLEIL/Rhino]
The same tune, with full band arrangement and lyrics written by Michael
Doucet in tribute to Bebe. A great example of how the tradition carries
on. BTW, did I ever mention that I compiled this album, and wrote the
liner notes for it? GET IT!
IRY LEJEUNE - La Valse de Pont d'Amour (The Love Bridge Waltz) [CAJUN'S
     GREATEST: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECITON/Ace-Goldband]

 This week's 1:00am featured artist ... Runrig.
I fell in love with this band years ago after discovering them quite by
accident on my first trip to Scotland, in Edinburgh, in a wee shop
called Canongate Music. The albums ... *looked* interesting ("Who are
all these longhaired types, and why are all the song titles in Gaelic?"),
and the fellow working there offered to pop one on for me. I was
hooked. I got a little excited by the prospect of their possibly
 coming soon, so ...
RUNRIG - An Toll Dubh [RECOVERY/Ridge]
 RUNRIG - O Cho Meallt [HEARTLAND/Ridge]
RUNRIG - Cearcal a' Chuain [THE HIGHLAND CONNECTION/Ridge]
RUNRIG - Protect and Survive [ONCE IN A LIFETIME/Chrysalis UK] Thrilling.
RUNRIG with KAREN MATHIESON - Chi Mi'n Geamhradh [FLOWER OF THE WEST ep/
Chrysalis UK] Originally appearing on their first album PLAY GAELIC,
this is a newly recorded version with the Capercaillie vocalist trading
     verses with Donnie.
RUNRIG - Amazing Things [AMAZING THINGS/Chrysalis UK]
There'll be more of this over the coming weeks ...

PLANXTY - The Good Ship Kangaroo [AFTER THE BREAK/Tara]
MAIREAD NI MHAONAIGH agus FRANKIE KENNEDY - Rileanna: Tommy Peoples' [CEOL
     ADUAIDH/Gael-Linn; re-released on Green Linnet]
DAVY SPILLANE with SEAN TYRRELL - The Walker of the Snow [SHADOW HUNTER/

PETER ROWAN AND THE ROWAN BROTHERS - Rye Whiskey [TREE ON A HILL/Sugar Hill]

BLOOD ORANGES - Hell's Half Acre [THE CRYING TREE/East Side Digital]
BOO HEWERDINE & DARDEN SMITH - Reminds Me (A Little of You) [EVIDENCE/
Chrysalis] From one of the most unduly unnoticed and underrated gems
     of 1989. I got a thank-you call for playing this, at 2:10am!

CHRIS GAFFNEY - '68 [MI VIDA LOCA/Hightone] By request.

     guitarist.
 D'GARY - Manibili [MALAGASY GUITAR/Shanachie]
