BEAUSOLEIL - J'ai Été au bal [LOOKING BACK TOMORROW/Rhino]
A new Beausoleil album! That's always a pretty big deal for me,
and this one doesn't disappoint. It's so new that I still haven't
listening to it yet, but what I've heard so far is wonderful,
catching this wonderful band's live spirit on record.

POI DOG PONDERING - Pulling Touch (live) [SAFE AT HOME IN THE '90s/
	cassette-only release]
A fantastic performance of a beautiful song, from Deirdre O'Donoghue's
"SNAP" in 1989 (I was there for this one).
DOLLY PARTON - Little Sparrow [LITTLE SPARROW/Sugar Hill]
Brand-new, and continuing in the vein of "The Grass is Blue"
UNCLE TUPELO - Slate [ANODYNE/Warner Bros.]
This is now the only UT album still in print. I'll do
a retrospective next week, now that the first three are
	out-of-print.
LYLE LOVETT - If I Had A Boat (live) [SAFE AT HOME IN THE '90s]
Another gorgeous performance for Deirdre, from 1989.

FIDDLIN' DOC ROBERTS - New Money [COMPLETE RECORDED WORKS IN
	CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, VOL. 1/Document]
WOODY GUTHRIE - Tom Joad, Parts 1 & 2 [DUST BOWL BALLADS/Buddha]
After hearing Patrick Street's fine version last week,
I thought you might want to hear Woody's original version,
	with the original melody.
JAY UNGAR & MOLLY MASON - The Lovers' Waltz [LOVERS' WALTZ/Angel]
A very sweet tune that I First heard from the playing of
Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, who recorded it on one
of their albums. (I swear I don't have a case of
	title-track-itis today...)

PLANXTY - Smeceno Horo [JOURNEY: THE BEST OF DONAL LUNNY/Rounder]
	I can't even dance to a 4/4 two-step; I don't get how
Bulgarians dance to tunes in 9/16 time, like this one.
Collected by Andy Irvine during one of his many trips
to Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
DÉANTA - Lone Shanakyle [WHISPER OF A SECRET/Green Linnet]
MILLADOIRO - O Santo de Pólvora [AUGA DE MAIO/Green Linnet]
New release; Celtic music from Galicia in Spain.

STEVE JORDAN - El Alacran [THE RETURN OF EL PARCHE/Rounder]
An old favorite of mine that I first heard performed by
	The Iguanas in New Orleans.
LOS LOBOS DEL ESTE DE LOS ANGELES - Guantanamera [JUST ANOTHER BAND
	FROM EAST L.A./Hollywood]
Their very first recording, long thought lost, and then
found buried in the record's producer's garage.
GENO DELAFOSE - Let's Say Goodnight [THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!/
	Rounder]
Geno's terrific zydeco cover of the Los Lobos song.

ALISON KRAUSS - Down To The River To Pray [O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? -
	ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK/Mercury]
A gorgeous performance by Alison, accompanied by the First
Baptist Church Choir of White House, Tennessee]

	[WRITER'S ALMANAC, with Garrison Keillor]

THE FLATLANDERS - Dallas [MORE A LEGEND THAN A BAND/Rounder]
Or, "Did You Ever See Dallas From A DC-9 At Night?" Oddly
enough, I had never heard this song until about 10 years
ago, when I heard Michael Stipe sing it with R.E.M. in
a live acoustic performance on "SNAP", for which I was
very lucky to have been in attendance.
JOHN HARTFORD - I Wish We Had Our Time Again [LIVE FROM MOUNTAIN STAGE/
	Blue Plate Music]
Some friends of mine said this was one of their very favorite
records of last year, and I missed it entirely. Oh well,
better late than never. It's mighty good.

A set for Deirdre.
DANIEL LANOIS - Acadie (live)
MARTIN STEPHENSON - The Big North Lights (live)
NANCI GRIFFITH - I Would Bring You Ireland (live)
PETER CASE - Two Angels (live) [SAFE AT HOME IN THE '90s]
Four amazing performances, as performed on "SNAP" in 1988 and 1989.

THE VOICE SQUAD - The Parting Glass [BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME/
	BBC Records-Hummingbird Records]
One more for Deirdre... (even though she would think it sappy)
