RICKY SKAGGS - Shady Grove [HISTORY OF THE FUTURE/Ceili Music]
Brand-spanking new, and ... wow! (*head spins*)

A set of music in honor of this weekend's Louisiana Swine Festival
in Basile, Louisiana (greasy pig contests, boudin eating contests,
and lots of great Cajun and Swamp Pop music) and the Savoy family
boucherie, where the pig is the guest of honor (and there ain't
nothin' left but bones by evenin' time). We'll see if we can
keep the theme up all evenin' here ...

OLD AND IN THE WAY - Pig in a Pen [OLD AND IN THE WAY/Ryko]
CLIFTON CHENIER & THE RED HOT LOUISIANA BAND - I'm A Hog For You,
	Baby [OUT WEST/Arhoolie]
BESSIE SMITH - Gimme A Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer [THE ESSENTIAL
	BESSIE SMITH/Columbia-Legacy]
MEMPHIS JUG BAND - Ruckus Juice and Chittlin' [RUCKUS JUICE AND
	CHITTLINS, VOL. 1/Yazoo]

Hmm ... still digging for more pig songs, but in the meantime
here's some other food-related songs.

CYRIL NEVILLE - New Orleans Cookin' [NEW ORLEANS COOKIN'/Tipitina's
	Endangered Species-Louisiana Red Hot]
A new song by Cyril and Allan Toussaint. Only in New Orleans
would a man compare the love of a woman to the joys of eating
	an oyster po-boy.
NATHAN ABSHIRE - Frog Leg Two-Step [NATHAN ABSHIRE AND THE PINE GROVE
	BOYS/Flyright]
DIRK POWELL - Brown-Eyed Rabbit [IF I GO TEN THOUSAND MILES/Rounder]
My apologies to my friends who have pet rabbits, but I eat rabbits.
	Just not yours.
CARAVANSERAI - Pajdusko Oro [PIG/Samizdat]
	It's a Macedonian tune, and yes, I know it's a stretch putting
it in this set ... but the album title is "Pig" and it actually
flowed rather well from the old-time Appalachian tune, don't
	you think?

DERVISH - Mick O'Connor's/Jack Roe/Palmer's Gate (reels) [MIDSUMMER'S
	NIGHT/Compass]
Latest from the fabulous Sligo-based traditional Irish band.
PADDY KEENAN & TOMMY O'SULLIVAN - Stranger to Himself [THE
	LONG GRAZING ACRE/Hot Conya]
Tommy sings a song from the great Sandy Denny.
JOHN DOYLE - Willie Riley [EVENING COMES EARLY/Shanachie]
New solo album from the former guitarist of Solas; I'm almost
glad he's left, because he gets to sing more now, and he has
a lovely voice. A traditional song learned from the singing
of Robert Cinnamond, an old time singer from the north of Ireland.

LIL JOHNSON - Stavin' Chain [THE COPULATIN' BLUES COMPACT DISC/Jass]
From a compilation of ... um, naughty blues and jazz songs.
SON HOUSE - Sundown [FATHER OF THE DELTA BLUES: THE COMPLEGE 1965
	SESSIONS/Columbia-Legacy]

ZYDECO JOE MOUTON - Mon Kishon Pu Twa (I'm A Hog For You)
	[JACKRABBIT/Maison de Soul]
A great, raw cover of Clifton's classic, mostly in Creole French.
SAVOY-DOUCET CAJUN BAND - Reno Waltz [HOME MUSIC WITH SPIRITS/Arhoolie]
I love when Marc and Ann sing harmony together, as they do on
this, one of my favorite waltzes, a song with a beautiful melody.
BEAUSOLEIL - Cochon de Lait [BAYOU CADILLAC/Rounder]
An original tune by Michael Doucet, named for one of Louisiana's
most beloved pork preparations, the slow pit-roasted pig. The
first time Mike played this tune for Dennis McGee, Dennis shouted
	"Pigged OUT!"

JAY FARRAR - Make It Alright [SEBASTOPOL/Artemis]
POPS FARRAR - Railroad Bum [MEMORY MUSIC: SONGS AND STORIES FROM THE
	MERCHANT MARINE/Skuntry]
This is Jim Farrar, Jay's dad, who's just released an album of
mostly traditional material he picked up from his youth in
the Merchant Marine, and beyond. Vocals with concertina, accordion
harmonica and pump organ accompaniment (I love that you can hear
the squeak of the pump pedal on the organ!)
BRAD LEFTWICH - Rye Straw [SAY, OLD MAN/County]
THE FREIGHT HOPPERS - Trouble [WAITING ON THE GRAVY TRAIN/Rounder]

CHRIS KNIGHT - Down the River [A PRETTY GOOD GUY/Dualtone]
GRAM PARSONS - Still Feelin' Blue [GP/Reprise]

WILLIE NELSON - The Rainbow Connection [RAINBOW CONNECTION/Island]
